School will be starting later than scheduled for prospective wizards and witches as Avalanche Games delays the launch of Hogwarts Legacy for the second time since its announcement. The much-awaited Harry Potter game was initially scheduled to launch in 2021 but was pushed back to 2022, then to the holiday season, and now to the first quarter of 2023, specifically on February 10th.

“The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience,” tweeted Avalanche. The game will be launching simultaneously on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and will be coming to Nintendo Switch at a later date.

Hogwarts Legacy is set in the iconic wizarding school during the 1800’s, more than a century before Harry Potter and his friends walked its magical halls. Players will take on the role of students as they embark on an epic adventure through familiar locations, such as the neighboring village of Hogsmeade, and discover new ones, learn the fundamentals of magic, and battle dark wizards.

Unfortunately for those who’re expecting to roam around Hogwarts with their friends, Avalanche recently confirmed that it will be strictly single-player and will not have multiplayer or co-op features. And so the wait for a full-fledged Harry Potter MMO begins anew.

In the meantime, you can catch a glimpse of the various areas that you’ll be able to explore in and around Hogwarts and some of the challenges you’ll face in the trailer below.
