Heroes of the Storm Blizzcon Announcements Galore

Blizzard Entertainment's MOBA Heroes of the Storm has made a big splash in the news at Blizzcon, revealing more than a hat-trick of heroes and even a new game mode. The next four heroes planned out have been revealed: The two player Cho'Gall, Lunara the Dryad, Greymane the Lord of the Worgen and Tracer from Overwatch. The characters all appear to be in working form, as character models and gameplay have all been already revealed.

A brand new map has also been revealed called The Towers of Doom, which has the us facing the terrors of the Raven Lord and the Grave Keeper in a completely new style of gameplay. Rather than the usual push-maps, players are going to need to control towers to bring them under allied control— doing so will grant more power to allied Altars which directly destroy the enemy core like in the Sky Temple. However, a special shield protects enemy cores making them impossible to assault by mere heroes alone.

Finally a brand new mode has been announced called "The Arena". The new mode provides some quickfire gameplay that seems to be attempting to compete with ARAM modes from League of Legends. Rather than full random, players will have a Random Draft at the beginning of a round and will be able to choose from one of three heroes. Players will then brawl it out in a shorter, more team fight centric version of the game that plays in a best of 3 rounds. You'll need quick strategy to win this one, as each team will only have a small amount of time to prepare for the randomized map ahead— with different objectives that players have already seen before in the standard game mode.

One interesting mechanic is the fact that all heroes are available for this mode— including ones that the player doesn't own. While this does seem counter-intuitive for money making... perhaps its free advertisement?
