Hearthstone-Like Astro Boy: Edge of Time Enters Open Beta In Japan

You may or may not remember Astro Boy: Edge of time from its unsuccessful time on Kickstarter. It was only last September that the campaign, which promised a digital CCG based on a reimagining of the Astro Boy universe with both single-player and multiplayer modes, was canceled due to a poor outlook. At the time, the Project Atom team had stated that it was not the end of the game and that it would return at a later time.
It seems that that time has come, as DMM Games announced today that the game has entered Open Beta in Japan. The Open Beta will run from today until April 7th, giving players about a week and a half to play.
Those that have played Hearthstone or Shadowverse in the past will find the game to be fairly familiar. The key difference between those titles and Astro Boy: Edge of Time is that Edge of Time features two rows in which players can place cards. Should you want a better look at the game, however, you can watch 4Gamer's 32-minute Story mode playthrough embedded below.
While the game has entered Open Beta in Japan, it is unknown at this time when the English version will be playable. Those who would like to play the Japanese version in the meantime can do so via the official Japanese website, but fair warning that DMM Games is known to require the use of a VPN to play its games.
