InselGames and Runewaker announced today that, due to "several internal tasks which simply require more preparation than expected," Guardians of Ember's Early Access launch will be delayed until the second half of October. In going with the Early Access delay, the IndieGoGo campaign has been extended until October 10th and a new $20,000 stretch goal, Iron Man mode, has been added.

Iron Man mode is described as follows.

With the Iron Man buff we have created a completely new challenge for every player who wants to stand out from the crowd and wants to become truly immortal:
Followed by an eternal flame - visible for all other players - the Iron Man mode is the only way to achieve some of the hardest and most exclusive titles and rewards.

Once the player activated the Iron Man mode with his new character, the Iron Man buff will remain active until the player dies for the first time. During this time it is not possible to join a party to make sure that Iron Man achievements are a real proof of toughness.

Despite the delay, early Beta access will still be given to backers several days before the launch of Early Access—just not in September. Those who decide to take part in early Beta access will have to start over when Early Access arrives, as there will be a full server wipe.

Furthermore, after InselGames expressed concerns about the fact that the Taiwanese version of the game, known as "Embergarde," is free-to-play, whereas the global version, Guardians of Ember, will be buy-to-play, Runewaker made the decision to close Embergarde. Guardians of Ember will be the only version of the game and it will be buy-to-play with optional microtransactions. The full details of said microtransactions can be found here, but the short version is that you will be able to earn the game's premium currency, known as "Frozen Ember," for free just by playing the game, in addition to being able to buy it. Additionally, the team does not believe that the items that are available for purchase provide any advantage that could be considered pay-to-win.

Don't forget that, if you have yet to pledge to the IndieGoGo campaign and are looking at getting the Immortal Edition, we have a special link—limited to 100 users—that will let you get that tier for only $33. The Immortal Edition will cost $49.99 at launch.
