In a bizarre and almost unbelievable announcement the global version of the mobile rhythm game "Love Live! School idol festival 2 MIRACLE LIVE!" announced both its launch (February, 2024) and shut down date (May 31, 2024).

The announcement is directly from the game's verified X page:

Never have I seen a game announce both its release and closure date in the same announcement. This begs the question: why even bother launching the game?

The most likely explanation is that the global English version of the game finished localization recently and just recently the game's developer announced the closure of the Japanese version. Since the English one was basically good to go, they figured they might as well launch it. The Japanese version is shutting down on March 31, 2024.
