Gigantic Delayed, 16 Employees Laid Off

Life as a startup can be tough. Your worth isn't proven before revenues start rolling in and, as such, you have a limited number of options when things go wrong. Throughout Gigantic's many testing phases, Motiga have decided that one thing is clear; they must delay the game into 2016.

This decision didn't come lightly. "Resources are finite," the studio's own Chris Chung notes in the blog post, "stretching Gigantic development milestones over more time requires that we stretch those resources in the same fashion." In the end, 16 employees had to be laid off to compensate. Chung assures all readers that "severances and job placement assistance" are being offered to each of those affected.

You can see the original blog post here. This is extremely unfortunate and we wish each of the affected employees the best of luck in their next venture. We also wish the remaining members luck in completing Gigantic. The game brings a certain element of whimsy and "magic" to MOBAs that we haven't quite seen yet. It would be a shame to see fall before it has a chance to shine.
