GamePress talks with Aniplex of America about Fate/Grand Order's NA Localization & The Future

If you like Fate/Grand Order, and you like reading behind-the-scenes interviews with game companies about the more technical aspects of bringing foreign games to North America, then GamePress's latest interview with Aniplex of America might pique your interest!

Broken down into 3 parts, GamePress talks about localization challenges, community outreach, and looking towards the future. Some hot topics are changing Saber Artoria's name to Altria in the North American version, and Marie Antoinette's most famous line!

What, didn't you know? Whassup, my homies was said all throughout 18th Century France!

In the future, there might be North America specific events, says Albert Kao, the head of NA Localization at Aniplex of America. He uses Thanksgiving as an example, since it is a holiday coming up soon. The Japanese version of Fate/Grand Order never had a Thanksgiving-specific event, but localizing a game is more than just translating it word-for-word. Localization involves taking a game, and making it something that players can see cultural value in. Japan does not celebrate the North American holiday of Thanksgiving, and similarly, North America does not celebrate White Day. You can catch the full interview here - and remember, more events will always arrive, especially in time for the holiday season!
