Dynamight Studios continues to tweak, improve, and add to Fractured Online’s gameplay systems and mechanics as closed beta testing continues for the open-world sandbox MMORPG. The latest beta update adds a new role for the game’s player-run governments, new global chat channels, and several gameplay reworks.

Players can now become Trusted Citizens which is a new role that ranks above Citizen and directly below the Vice-Governor. This will allow city governors to accept more players into the city without worrying about newly-appointed Citizens stealing the contents of common containers.

Citizen actions are now limited to joining a city and claiming land within it. They will also be able to use instant crafting stations that have permissions set to “citizen only” and will have a different taxation scheme. Other actions within the city will require the new Trusted Citizen status, including using processing stations, stockpiles, chests, siege workshops, and catapults, as well as seeding and harvesting farm plots.

The global chat has also been upgraded with Trade, Recruit, and Help channels and the ability to create personal chat categories. These categories will further allow players to control which chat messages are received in each category. By default, these categories are: General, Local, Trade, Help, Party, and Guild – and can be renamed based on player preference.

Dynamight has also reworked the K.O. popup dialog box to prevent new players from accidentally clicking on the “Suicide” button and killing themselves. “The popup now shows the 30-seconds timer with a different color and only includes one button called ‘Suicide’, which brings up a warning popup. If you decide to click on ‘suicide’ in the warning popup as well, you will die and are presented with the usual death window, where you’re prompted to choose one of the three possible respawn locations,” said the devs.

Poison and bleed mechanics have also been tweaked to make both status effects stack-based. The effects can now be stacked up to 100 and will grow stronger the more stacks there are on a target. Their corresponding skills have also been updated accordingly. Additionally, Stealth has also been updated to no longer be a permanent status effect. It will now have a maximum duration which is determined by the ability used to trigger it and the player’s Stealth modifier. Reveal mechanics will still work as before.

Other noteworthy changes include Battlemage Amor balance adjustments and a rework of the Silence effect which now only prevents the casting of spells and will not deactivate or remove any spells that are already active on the target. The weapon damage dealt by critical attacks has also been nerfed and will no longer stack with the Damage Increase modifier.

Details can be found in the full patch notes on the Fractured Online official site. Founder’s Packs are still available for those who want to participate in the ongoing closed beta test.
