Fractured Online Adds Crafting Fees And Harbor Safe Zones In Latest Beta Build

It’s been a month since Fractured Online started 24/7 closed beta testing. So far, testers have been able to test out the various gameplay features, including the crafting system and use crafting stations for free. Unfortunately, the days of free crafting in the sandbox MMORPG are now over, no thanks to the addition of crafting fees and taxes in the latest beta update.

The new fees only apply when using crafting stations found in cities or in player homes. A base gold fee will be charged and possibly a tax to the city the crafting station is in or the city that controls the region. How much that tax is depends on the elected player governor in charge of the city or region. Players can still craft items from the inventory crafting menu for free but will be of poorer quality compared to using the paid crafting stations.

“The system is meant to introduce gold sinks into the game and reward cities who decide to open up their crafting stations to the public,” explained the devs. This is in spite of complaints that gold is extremely hard to come by in the game.

In addition to levying various fees on crafting, the update also addresses PvP spawn camping and griefing in harbors by making them safe zones. The protection ends 50 meters from the Harbor Office building and will be clearly marked by a particle effect. Beyond that, everyone is fair game. Also, the first melee or ranged weapon attack from stealth will now have a 100% chance of dealing critical damage so it’s best to keep an eye out for ambushes when leaving safe zones. The team has also brought back the ability to put poison on bows which should work quite nicely with the stealth attack.
