Fortnite Went Down For Hours Following Reports Of Login And Matchmaking Issues

Fortnite players encountered a nasty surprise when the popular battle royale shooter’s servers went down for more than five hours yesterday. Prior to the servers going offline, Epic Games tweeted that they were investigating login, matchmaking, and stability issues that appeared out of nowhere. The servers went dark a few hours later at 10am PT.
The Epic Games Store client also started acting up at around the same time that the problems started. Users reported being unable to login or access their games even for offline play.
Two hours later, the team tweeted that they were working on a fix. At some point players were able to login to Fortnite but were placed in a queue before being booted after about ten minutes or so. Epic announced that the servers were back online at 3:50pm PT although some players were able to jump in a bit earlier at around 3:30pm.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we worked to resolve these issues,” tweeted Epic. “We’ll have more details next week on what we’re doing to help you make up for lost time.” The team also said that they’re working on that extra present that players haven’t been able to open.
Meanwhile, Winterfest 2021 is still in full swing featuring seasonal rewards and limited-time Spider-Man: No Way Home skins.
