Fortnite Save The World Is Getting A Makeover With Update 6.30

fortnite homebase 630Ever since Fortnite released their widely-popular free-to-play Battle Royale mode their flagship mode Save The World has pretty much taken a backseat. Most updates have been aimed at adding content or improving Battle Royale. Well, Save The World is finally getting an update all its own and boy is it a big one. Players can expect to see a new and improved Homebase when update 6.30 goes live.

The update will also introduce new characters into the game along with an improved new-player experience. Instead of the old quest-based tutorial, the new tutorial system will explain features and mechanics as they’re unlocked.

“Previously we used a lot of quests with UI-based objectives to help explain new features, but they were often hard to notice and not as effective as they could be. The quest-driven UI tutorials have been replaced with contextual, quick explanations of key features as they are unlocked. Prior to this revamp, new users could be taken back by the amount of tabs, menu options, etc. available right from the beginning of the game. With the introduction of the new Homebase characters, features are now more consistently revealed as the player progresses through the campaign, being briefly explained when additional clarity is necessary.”

In addition to the new Homebase and tutorial, the current Skill and Research Trees will also be replaced with the Upgrades room. Don’t worry about losing the skills you’ve worked for because the devs have you covered. “When these changes go live, your account will be converted in such a way that it should be just as powerful or even more so than it currently is in terms of stats and progress,” says Epic. “You will automatically and retroactively be granted any rewards you would have been granted for leveling up and any features you previously unlocked should remain unlocked, even if you're not up to where they now become available within the campaign. You'll have an equivalent amount of research already stored up in Lars' Research Lab based on your existing research progress as well.”
