Focus Entertainment Unveils Monster Hunter-Like Co-op Action RPG Atlas Fallen

One of the prettiest games to grace Gamescom 2022’s opening night was Focus Entertainment’s new action RPG Atlas Fallen. The studio announced the game with a stunning cinematic trailer that offers a brief background on the game’s lore and exactly 10 seconds of actual gameplay footage. It’s a good thing that the trailer includes a lengthy description about the game and what it entails.
Atlas Fallen will drop players into a semi-open world filled with ancient mysteries and artifacts, massive monsters, and other kinds of threats as they fight to liberate mankind from oppressive gods. They’ll have access to powerful shape-shifting weapons and sand-powered abilities that they’ll use to hunt down monsters and presumably take the fight to the gods themselves.
The game will feature a story campaign that can be played solo or cooperatively and a customization system that will vaguely allow players to “gather the essence” of their enemies to create their own custom playstyle. That could either mean that you can draw and use abilities from your enemies or that you’ll simply earn experience points from them. Hopefully, it’s the latter.
Based on the announcement trailer, Atlas Fallen looks like a tricked out version of Monster Hunter from the combat style and right down to the oversized monsters that players will have to hunt down. Apparently, you’ll also be searching for ancient artifacts in between battles with massive monsters and will be able to quickly traverse the desert environments by skiing atop the sands much like the skiing system used in the Tribes series of games.
Focus Entertainment has yet to announce an exact release date for the game but they did offer a release window of 2023. The Atlas Fallen Steam page is also live if you want to add it to your wishlist.
