Nexon America announced today that Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online will finally be entering its free-to-play Open Beta stage on July 28th. As a result of the timing, the Early Access free access period has been extended. It doesn't explicitly state anywhere what the free access period's end date is, but most of the events scheduled for the extended free access period end on July 27th at 10 AM PDT. The Crates that were first made available at the beginning of the free access period will be removed from sale at the same time.

Of the events scheduled, the Major Reflection event has entered Phase II, allowing players another chance at the Seburo MG and a first chance at the Motoko 2nd GIG Signature Skin. These rewards require you to be one of the top five players with the most kills in a single Dive match and one of the top five players that have played the most games, respectively, between now and July 27th at 10 AM PDT.

A new update will launch in time for the Open Beta. The update will introduce a "new original operative"—meaning that the operative in question, like Maven, has been created exclusively for First Assault—and an "innovative" new mode "that brings a new hacking element into the game," as well as "new systems" and an assortment of fixes.

You can download First Assault now via the Nexon Launcher or Steam.
