Fiona Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint in Vindictus’ Latest Update

Nexon has rolled out a sizeable update for Vindictus, a free-to-play action MMO first released in 2010. The patch focuses on veteran sword-and-board hero Fiona, giving her a visual upgrade and reworking several of her abilities to make her playstyle more aggressive. It also launches a new Mileage Shop that rewards players for NX spending throughout the year.

Vindictus still leans on its signature real-time combat and Celtic-inspired setting, but regular updates are what have kept long-time fans queuing for raids. Fun fact: Vindictus is one of the only MMORPGs built on Valve's Source engine.

Here is what players can expect from the “Fiona” patch:

• Fiona overhaul: New hairstyle, faint battle scars and tweaks to her toolkit aim to modernize the character and reinforce her lore as a seasoned mercenary.
• Retribution stacks: The reworked Active: Taunt now grants a 3 percent Final Damage boost per stack, capping at 15 percent. Shield deflections and Stigma Hammer hits extend the buff’s duration and restore SP.
• Broader Taunt access: Active: Taunt is no longer limited to raid content and can be used in any fight, giving Fiona more control during regular missions.
• New skill – Active: Taunt Strike: A leap-and-slam attack that deals area damage while pulling enemy aggro for a short period.
• Character balance pass: Vella, Hurc (Greatsword), Lethor, Evie (Staff) and Delia receive assorted tweaks aimed at smoothing out rotations and damage curves.
• Mileage Shop: Every 100 NX spent in 2025 converts to 1 Mileage Point, redeemable for items like the Special Jordra Set and Character-Exclusive Hair Trade Coupons until 3 February 2026.
• In-game events: Raid coupons, login rewards and limited-time quests run through 21 October, offering cosmetics and crafting materials.

The update underlines Nexon’s ongoing support for Vindictus. While the game has survived for 15 years now, the playerbase on the global version is a tad disappointing, averaging just 100 or so players on Steam at any given time.
