Final Fantasy XI Ending Console Support On March 31st

With the end of Final Fantasy XI's core story having launched last November and a new mobile version of the game set to release later this year, one had to wonder what the game's future looked like. While the PC version of the game will continue to live on—with monthly updates, no less—support for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 editions of Final Fantasy XI will be ending on March 31st.
Those who are still playing the console versions can download the Windows client to continue where they left off. Furthermore, the team is planning to allow veteran players to play for free for a limited time at the end of the month. According to the announcement, "Vana'diel has plenty in store in the months to come." Just not on consoles.
