Fellowship Sets Early Access Debut for October, Open Beta Arrives in September

Chief Rebel, a new studio staffed by alumni from Blizzard, Ubisoft, DICE and Arrowhead, is preparing to launch its cooperative dungeon crawler Fellowship on Steam Early Access on October 9, 2025. The PC-only release will be priced at $24.99 and is expected to remain in Early Access for roughly six months while the team fine-tunes content and balance with community feedback.
Before that, players can sample the game during a free Open Beta running September 18-23. The test will give would-be adventurers an early look at a project the studio calls a “multiplayer online dungeon adventure” – essentially a four-player PvE experience that mixes MMO party roles with the brisk, replay-focused structure seen in games like Deep Rock Galactic and seasonal ARPGs.
- Early Access begins October 9 on Steam with the core dungeon-crawling loop fully playable.
- Open Beta runs September 18 at 10 a.m. PT through September 23, featuring servers in North America, Europe and Asia.
- Seven playable heroes at Beta launch: two tanks, three damage dealers (including newcomer Mara) and two healers.
- Content on offer includes Quick Play and ranked dungeon runs, the new “Urrak Markets” dungeon, plus revamped matchmaking, progression systems and cosmetic customization.
- Chief Rebel plans purely cosmetic microtransactions during Early Access; gameplay balance and new features will come via free updates.
- The studio expects full 1.0 release next year but says the timeline could shift based on player feedback.
Vets of long-running MMOs will notice Fellowship trims the usual leveling grind. Players jump straight into endgame-style dungeons that scale endlessly, a design choice that mirrors the pick-up-and-play mentality driving many contemporary co-op titles. Time will tell if the formula works for Fellowship, but at least everyone will get a chance to try it for free September 18-23.
