ESA Cancels E3 2022 Digital Event, Promises Big Comeback Next Year

This year’s all-digital E3 2022 event has been cancelled. The news was first revealed in a tweet by Razer’s PR Lead, Will Powers.
Just got an email... It's official, E3 digital is official cancelled for 2022. Lots of mixed feelings about this...

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) later followed up with an official statement confirming the cancellation of the event along with the promise of a big comeback in 2023 which will feature both in-person and digital events. According to the organizers, the digital event was cancelled to shore up resources for next year’s shows.
“We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience.
We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023.”
The ESA originally planned to hold a physical event this year after the 2020 event was cancelled due to COVID-19 and 2021 being all-digital. The plan was scrapped back in January in favor of hosting another digital event, which, as of today, has also been cancelled.
