Embers Adrift, at its core, is a group-based MMORPG where players are required to team up with other players to take on the various challenges that the world of Ember has to offer. Developer Stormhaven Studios, however, admits that this can be quite daunting for new players who are just starting to learn the ropes and may not be confident enough to join a group.

To address the issue, the studio has added three new low-level solo dungeons and a bulletin board system which should provide solo adventurers with a constant stream of tasks until they’re ready to party up and take on more difficult encounters. Tasks from the bulletin board can also be taken on as a team for those who want to test the waters.

“One of our primary goals in 2024 is to deliver more structured gameplay for those who begin their adventures alone,” says Stormhaven. “We hope that by providing more tangible goals with meaningful rewards to solo adventurers they will stick around longer increasing the likelihood of forming a group to tackle a dungeon or complete a quest.”

You’ll still need to group up at some point in the game, but if you’re just starting out, you can do so without the added pressure of working in a group. Details can be found in the latest patch notes on the Embers Adrift official forums.
