Eleon Games Partners With Funcom To Publish And Fund Space Survivalbox Empyrion

Eleon Game Studios has partnered with Funcom to publish its co-op space survival sandbox game Empyrion. The indie studio tried but failed to raise funds for the game via Kickstarter in 2014, but surprisingly still managed to launch the game to positive reviews in August 2020. Now, its managed to secure support from the Conan Exiles and Dune: Awakening developer.
Funcom announced the partnership earlier this week, saying that it’s invested in Empyrion and will be offering publishing assistance starting with its first expansion – Dark Faction. The expansion is set to launch on February 6 and will introduce new gameplay mechanics, melee combat improvements, new building materials, and new mysteries to uncover.
“In Empyrion’s first-ever Expansion, discover a terrifying threat to the entire galaxy: an almost indestructible organism driven to spread and take over any life it touches. The brand-new scenario explores a darker side of the Empyrion galaxy, plunging you into an intense survival story from the get-go while also providing an improved onboarding experience.”
Eleon Games and Funcom’s partnership will also extend to a new game in the Empyrion franchise. “As a developer and publisher of open world survival game ourselves, Empyrion has been a favorite among many at Funcom and we’re excited for the opportunity to help Eleon expand this universe,” Funcom said.
