As promised, ZeniMax has finally revealed the next Elder Scrolls Online story arc as it moves away from the year-long narratives of previous years in favor of more permanent content. The rumors that the next story arc will send players to the Telvanni-held region of Morrowind has turned out to be true as players make their way to the northeastern peninsula later this year in Shadow Over Morrowind.

While the game’s narrative structure may have changed, ZeniMax will still be following the traditional release schedule of two DLCs and one chapter release per year. The Shadow Over Morrowind storyline kicks off with the launch of the Scribes of Fate dungeon DLC on March 13th on PC and March 28th on consoles.

“In the upcoming Scribes of Fate DLC, you can delve into two new four-player PvE dungeons and battle your way past the twisted acolytes of the Scribes of Mora in Scrivener’s Hall or contend with the temporal magics of Bal Sunnar,” announced ZeniMax. “What you uncover within these dungeons will have consequences for all of Tamriel, so gather your most-trusted allies and prepare to dive into two mysterious and unpredictable adventures.”

The Necrom Chapter’s release will follow a few months later in June and will feature roughly 30 hours of new content that will take place across two new zones: the Telvanni Peninsula and the Apocrypha, the realm of forbidden knowledge in Oblivion and home to the Daedric Prince of Knowledge Hermaeus Mora.

“In Necrom, you become an agent of Hermaeus Mora tasked with investigating a mysterious threat to the Daedric Prince’s most closely guarded secrets,” the devs revealed. “You must seek out lost knowledge deep within the heart of the City of the Dead and walk between realities to uncover a vast conspiracy powerful enough to endanger Nirn and Oblivion alike.”

“As you delve deeper into this forbidding conundrum, you can encounter new and returning characters, including a powerful Dark Elf mage currently working with Mora called Leramil the Wise, the fan-favorite Morag Tong assassin Naryu, and many more,” they added.

Necrom will arrive on PC on June 5th and on consoles on June 20th and is now available for pre-order. Bonus rewards await those who pre-purchase the upcoming chapter until April 18th, including the Sadrith Mora Spore Steed mount and Sadrith Mora Spore Pony pet. Note that the pet will only be available until April 18th.
