Take On A Fearsome Pirate Band In The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle’s Dreadsail Reef Trial
ZeniMax Online continues its High Isle preview series with a quick look at Dreadsail Reef, one of the new encounters coming to Elder Scrolls Online when the new chapter arrives next month. In the new 12-player Trial, players will go up against the infamous Dreadsail pirates and their cunning leader, Fleet Queen Taleria while a Breton flotilla launches an assault on the pirate band’s clandestine harbor.
“To ensure the Dreadsail pirates are wiped out, High Isle’s Admiral Galvendier has concocted a daring plan. While the Dufort Flotilla battles the Dreadsail fleet itself, a smaller invasion force will storm the beach, make its way into the pirate city, and capture the Fleet Queen before her sea magics condemn the High Isle navy to the deep.”
As with most MMO raids, teamwork plays a crucial part in ESO’s group encounters, even more so in Dreadsail Reef. It’s one of those encounters where everyone in the team will feel that they contributed something to help the group overcome the challenge, as the team revealed in the preview blog.
“Group coordination is really important in this Trial,” said ESO Encounter Lead Mike Finnigan. “Everyone has a job to do and being able to perform in tight windows is crucial. Tanks need to pay attention to monster placement and spacing. DPS and Healers need to know which mechanics to engage with and when as well.”
Teamwork will come into play as early as the first boss fight and right up to the final boss encounter against Taleria herself.
“All of the bosses provide a unique challenge in Dreadsail Reef,” said Finnigan. “However, the first boss fight you encounter, Lylanar and Turlassil, are pretty unique and will challenge you to smartly position the bosses and have backup plans as people fall. Not to mention, it’s always fun to blow up your friends!”
Players who successfully defeat the Fleet Queen and her pirate band will be rewarded with gold and various collectibles, such as the Stormsurge Howler mount and Stormsurge Face and Body Markings. They’ll also be able to unlock the Swashbuckler Supreme title upon completing all of the Trial’s Achievements.
Dreadsail Reef bosses also have the chance to drop four new item sets that are exclusively available in the new Trial. This includes the Pearlescent Ward heavy set that grants a damage bonus to the entire party as well as damage reduction based on how many party members are dead.
Players will be able to set sail for Dreadsail Reef when the High Isle Chapter launches on June 6th for PC/Mac and on June 21st for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. In the meantime, you can check out the new preview blog on the Elder Scrolls Online official site to learn more about the new Trial.
