The next few months and possibly years are going to be a busy time for Bethesda Softworks with Starfield slated for release in 2023 and The Elder Scrolls 6 now in pre-production. Executive Producer Todd Howard confirmed in an interview with IGN that the highly-awaited sequel to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is now in the very early stages of development and that Fallout 5 will be coming right after that.

“Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well.”

While we likely won’t be seeing The Elder Scrolls 6 for many years, but it’s good to know that it’s finally happening. In the meantime, there’s always Skyrim and Elder Scrolls Online to pass the time, or Fallout 76 if that’s your cup of tea.

“They do take a while, I wish they came out faster, I really do, we’re trying as hard as we can, but we want them to be as best as they can be for everybody,” Howard added.

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced back in 2018 but was put in the backburner in favor of Starfield in 2021.
