Dungeons and Dragons Online players will once again get the chance to put their skills to the ultimate test with the next Hardcore League lurking just around the corner. Season 9 of the permadeath mode, dubbed Return to Grace, will be opening its doors on December 6th with a new ruleset, including a +4 level restriction on quests and extra lives awarded at level 8 and level 16.

“During the Hardcore League, goals are set for players, and progress is based on two factors, each with their own ladder,” developer Standing Stone Games explains. “One tests the player’s ability to conquer as many quests as possible, and the other tests the player’s ability to survive in the hardest mode ever brought to the game.”

New rewards await players who manage to reach set milestones, including the Season 9 Death Walker’s Sash and Cloak, Archon Helm, Celestial Mount, and the Lantern Archonling War Veteran. The hardcore server will be open to all players. Free players, however, will still be subject to the standard account restrictions which can be removed with a VIP subscription.

The Hardcore League will run until February 7th with free character transfers to any of the existing servers throughout the duration of the league and for a short time after it ends. More information about Hardcore League Season 9 and how the permadeath mode works can be found in this FAQ.
