Dual Universe Dives Deep Into The Upcoming Mission System

dual universe social suitsThere are a lot of things aspiring space explorers will need to focus on in Dual Universe. First and foremost is how to make money. The upcoming mission system will give new players or those who enjoy traveling a chance to earn some cash and gives veteran players the means to efficiently transport their goods to market hubs while they focus on production.

The mission system will allow players to take on developer-created jobs through the Job Forum. Players can also post their own hauling missions or take on player-created ones. These hauling missions will have time limits as well as specified start and end points with indications about whether they are in PvP zones or not. Mission responders will also be required to put up a collateral in escrow which will be forfeited should they fail to deliver the cargo on time or if they, or another player (i.e. pirates), open the cargo. Of course, there’s also a reward waiting for the responder once he completes the hauling mission.

On the subject of rewards, Novaquark warns players that the rewards for player-created missions are declarative and non-binding. There will however, be a rating system for both mission creators and takers to prevent players from scamming other players. “For some, the lure of pulling one over on an unsuspecting stranger has an even larger allure than the money to be made,” says the devs. “Sure, you can scam sweet, trusting little lambs for a time, but eventually you’ll be the one to pay the price.”

Missions will be limited to hauling and trading for the time being. More mission types will be added later starting with taxi missions and SOS response missions. PvP and other mission types will follow later.

The mission system will be part of Update 0.24 which should be going live in the next couple of months. Details can be found on the Dual Universe official site.
