Dragomon Hunter Closed Beta Begins October 15th, Founder's Packs Now Available

Aeria Games announced today via press release that Dragomon Hunter's Closed Beta will begin on October 15th. The Closed Beta will be supported by a Founder's Pack program. To go with the announcement of the Closed Beta start date, Aeria have also published a new video detailing some of the game's features. Players can not only capture monsters but breed them for rare colors or speed buffs.

Life as a Dragomon Hunter

The minimum Founder's Pack buy-in will be $19.99. The Founder's Packs were described in the press release as follows.

  • Starter Pack: A great set of essentials for any serious Hunter, including guaranteed access to the Closed Beta. ($19.99)
  • Into The Wild Collection: Adventurous Hunters can tame their way into Dragomon history with the unique Fire Ringoon and other kawaii Dragomon. ($49.99)
  • Royal Apparel Set: Some players command great skill as Dragomon Hunters, but they have to look the part of an elite adventurer too! This set includes charming Victorian-inspired garb to elevate players’ elegance. ($49.99)
  • Dynamic Duo Pack: Hunters are only as strong as their companions, and with the Fae companion Pandora, Founding players become a real force of nature to be reckoned with. ($49.99)
  • The Ultimate Hunter’s Pack: Elite Hunters can gear up and get ready for the ultimate start to their adventures. ($299.99)

So, in other words, there are some cheaper options combined with a more expensive option that would make Trion Worlds' Founder's Pack pricing cringe. But what all is inside these Founder's Packs?

  • The Starter Pack contains 20 Fortune Gems, used to play the Falcon's Fortune lottery, 20 Advanced Gear Evolution Scrolls, used to "upgrade your gear and make it stronger," and a 10-slot backpack.
  • The Into the Wild Collection contains 50 Fortune Gems, 100 Ecological Records, used to record information about Dragomon on your ranch "for incredible rewards," a Training Orb, for gaining experience even when standing still, a 7-day Bluebird's Blessing, which grants increased EXP and drop rates, 3-day Chubby Sheep, Petite Pony, and War Lion mounts, and a whistle that summons a Fire Ringoon.
  • The Royal Apparel Set contains Male and Female Founder's Royal Attire sets, 50 fortune gems, a 15-slot backpack, 10 Lucky Badges, which boost drop rates, and 5 Loot Charm IIIs, also used to increase drop rates.
  • The Dynamic Duo Pack contains a Founder's Spirited Pandora, which appears to be a Fae hopalong, 50 Fortune Gems, 60 Awakening Guides of Spirited Pandora, used to "unlock [Spirited Pandora's] full potential," 10 3-Star Evolution Gems, used to evolve weapons and armor, and Rare Enchantments for Chest DEF, Chest HP, and Weapon ATK.
  • The Ultimate Hunter's Pack has all of the other packs' contents, as well as a Founder's Golden Sharkicane, a Founder's Classy Fen Croaker, an entire pack of Evolution Gems, an extra character slot, and orange weapon and gear crafting packs.

It seems that the prices of these packs are largely driven by the Fortune Gems. The $20 pack has 20 gems, while each of the $50 packs have 50 gems. They also seem to value the Royal Attire much more than they do the items in the other $50 packs, as players ultimately get less in the Royal Apparel set. Regardless, buying in for $20 seems to be largely a simple beta buy-in, as the items you get from the $20 pack seem inconsequential. The Advanced Gear Evolution Scrolls probably work off of a percent chance to upgrade and the 10-slot backpack isn't the highest tier backpack you can get, meaning you might spend more later. The part that surprises me the most, however, is that the Into the Wild and Dynamic Duo packs don't contain a backpack.

While you wait on the beta, you can head over to the official site to register for a chance at a free beta key or buy a Founder's Pack. Or you can enjoy the video embedded above.
