Divergence Online Launches Yet Another Crowdfunding Campaign
Divergence Online is back on IndieGoGo. You may remember Stained Glass Llama's Star Wars Galaxies successor from its previous—successful—Kickstarter campaign. Or maybe you remember it from the other—also successful—IndieGoGo campaign. Regardless, it's back and, after a complete rebuild of the game over the past year, looking for more funding. This time, the goal is a mere $15,000 with flexible funding enabled.

The campaign spends the entire time explaining the game in rather great detail. A 250km² world is available to all players on a single server. Open PvP with limited permadeath awaits players. Players can choose from one of eight species. A block building system at 4x the resolution of Minecraft's can be used to create structures. And of course, the alpha is currently available to be played by anyone who may want to see what kind of game their money is going towards. It seems like that access may be closed off to anyone who pledges less than $100 after the campaign, though.
The rewards are a bit underwhelming. Some headstarts to in-game progress, various levels of testing access, and a few "powerful and unique" bonuses that sound like they might toe the pay-to-win line a bit. The highest pledge level is only $200 and the rewards are smaller as a result. There are no physical rewards at all.
The one thing that really seems to be missing is the lack of an explanation of where the money is going other than the assumed "development." It's the third campaign and, as such, to keep trust high, such things really should be included.
