Blizzard has dropped a new Diablo 4 trailer hot on the heels of its weekend beta schedule announcement this past weekend. The new trailer offers a sneak peek at the dark, gloomy world of Sanctuary and just some of the monstrosities that players will go up against on their quest to defeat The Daughter of Hatred, Lilith.

“Sanctuary is the world in which the story of Diablo takes place and it’s the battleground for the souls of humanity and the fight between angels and demons,” says the devs. “[It’s] a vast world and there will always be something new in every area, like hordes of enemies, safe haven towns, resources to gather, events, quests, and more.”

Sanctuary will feature five unique zones – Kehjistan, Scosglen, Fractured Peaks, The Dry Steppes, and Hawezar, each with its own distinct looks and ambient life. While exploring each region, players will have the option to take on various side quests, world bosses, and randomly-appearing events in addition to the main story quests and dungeons that they’ll need to complete.

“We’ve really crafted the world to feel like there’s always something just around the corner to find,” said Senior Quest Designer Harrison Pink.

For Diablo 4, the developers decided to return to the more washed-out and darker tones of earlier Diablo games. Monsters from the previous games will also be making a return but have been redesigned to make them look scarier and grimmer to match the overall tone of the game.

Diablo 4 officially launches on June 6th on PC and consoles. Those who pre-order the game, however, will get to explore the vast world of Sanctuary four days ahead of the pack. In the meantime, you can learn more about how the game world was designed in the new Inside the Game developer video below.
