Diablo 4 Players Crying Foul Over Stress Test’s Allegedly Pay-To-Win Battle Pass

The Diablo 4 Server Slam stress test weekend is upon us, but not without a little controversy. Players are voicing concerns about the game’s battle pass, accusing it of being pay-to-win. Some argue that access to additional gold, boosts to magic find, and increased XP gives an unfair advantage to those who pay for the premium version.

The development team, however, is on the case as Global Community Development Director Adam Fletcher revealed on Twitter. “We aren’t selling power. That is the philosophy of the game and team,” he said. “If anything comes up like an edge case where it would be possible, that would mean it isn’t working as intended and we would immediately resolve it. No ifs ands or buts about it.”

Battle pass issue aside, the stress test will run just like the previous beta tests. All characters start from zero, and character progression will not carry forward into the launch. Players can earn a mount cosmetic for slaying the world boss and have a chance at earning cosmetics from previous tests. As for the gameplay, content will include the prologue and Act I, as well as a world boss fight.

Players have already taken to the Diablo 4 subreddit to share their thoughts on the stress test’s build. Initial reactions note a nerf to necromancers and pets but also report improved loot drops and solid overall server performance.
