Blizzard Accidentally Caused Diablo 4 Glyph Levels To Drop When Patch 1.2.3 Came Out

Yesterday marked the opening of what Blizzard described as the most difficult dungeon in the game, the Abattoir of Zir. The seasonal dungeon features 25 increasingly difficult levels to clear with a 10-minute time limit for each level. The first level alone is already as hard as a level 100 Nightmare Dungeon.

To give players a better chance of completing the Abattoir, Blizzard also boosted Glyph XP gains in Nightmare Dungeons by a considerable amount, particularly at the latter levels. Unfortunately, they also ended up accidentally nerfing all Glyph users by a level, which threw most endgame players for a loop as they suddenly found their meticulously planned builds ruined.

Blizzard community manager Lyricana_Nightrayne assured the community that the developers are aware of the issue and that they’re currently working on a fix. “Users that were max level on Paragon Glyph XP, you can re-level the Glyphs in the meantime if you prefer until the fix is available,” said the devs. “For those that were below the max Glyph XP, you can still progress your Glyphs and after the fix will have that Glyph XP added to the old amounts prior to the 1.2.3 update.”

Meanwhile, players also reported that the total Glyph XP required to level up has also increased, essentially making it even harder to upgrade Glyphs contrary to Blizzard’s plan. Whether it’s intentional remains unclear, although there’s speculation that it might be what caused Glyph levels to drop down as the system could have calculated the current Glyph levels based on the new values.

In any case, players will have to brave the new dungeon a little less powerful than they were before until Blizzard rolls out the promised fix.
