Diablo 4 Officially Launched With Minimal Queues But Widespread Server Issues

After 11 years, Diablo fans can now embark on a brand-new journey with Diablo 4 officially opening the gates to Sanctuary and Hell as of last night. The latest addition to the iconic franchise is now live across all regions and on all editions, promising a more MMO-like experience compared to previous titles in the series.

However, despite Blizzard’s assurance that they were prepared to handle the flood of players posed to descend on the highly awaited game, the servers apparently weren’t quite up to the task. While queues were surprisingly non-existent in some regions, there have been numerous reports of server outages and players being unceremoniously booted from the game and being unable to log back in.

That being said, Diablo 4’s global launch looks to be one of the smoothest major launches we’ve seen in a while. Keep your fingers crossed though, as Murphy’s Law is bound to rear its ugly head sooner or later.

Meanwhile, Blizzard has confirmed that it’s already working on two expansions for the game. “As I sit here we’re about to launch the main game, we’re finishing up season one, we’re working on season two, we’re working on expansion one, we’re kicking off expansion two,” touted Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson.

Season 1 is scheduled to begin sometime in July and will run for three months before Season 2 arrives.
