Destiny 2 Goes Offline For Hours And Rolls Back Servers After A Patch Broke The Game

Bungie inadvertently broke Destiny 2 when it released Patch 6.3.0.5 yesterday morning. The patch was meant to be a hotfix but ironically caused more harm than good. After the patch rolled out, players reported losing progress related to Triumphs, Seals, and Catalysts, among other issues.
In response, the developers were forced to take the game offline for the better half of Tuesday night until early this morning and roll the servers back to a point before they rolled out the hotfix. The issues with lost progress and the Rumble Crucible mode has since been fixed while investigation on the ongoing problems with the Evidence Board continues.
Bungie notes that some enemies may still drop Rare engrams even after players have reached the soft cap. The studio promises to fix this in a future update. The community, however, is surprisingly taking the extended downtime and rollback in stride, there’s still a bit of grumbling on the Destiny 2 subreddit but not as much in other gaming threads.
