DDO Returns to Ravenloft With “The Chill of Ravenloft”

Dungeons & Dragons Online has opened the gates to Lamordia in its newest expansion, The Chill of Ravenloft. The long-running MMORPG, first launched in 2006 and now operated by Standing Stone Games, revisits the gothic horror setting it last explored in 2017’s Mists of Ravenloft. Players can jump in today on PC to investigate a land locked in endless winter and ruled by the brilliant yet disturbing Dr. Viktra Mordenheim.
Lamordia’s frozen factories and snow-choked streets mark a tonal shift from recent high-fantasy updates, leaning into classic Ravenloft horror. The expansion also introduces a new playable race and a fresh batch of high-level dungeons aimed at veterans who have already conquered last year’s Vecna Unleashed.
Key additions
- Dhampir race – A half-vampire ancestry that brings self-healing and life-drain abilities to any class build.
- New quest arc – Eight dungeons available at CR 8 (Heroic) and CR 36 (Legendary) that follow the mystery of Dr. Mordenheim’s experiments.
- Lamordia wilderness zone – An open exploration area packed with optional objectives and rare encounters.
- Bespoke monsters – Mechanized undead, stitched abominations, and other creations unique to Ravenloft’s science-meets-necromancy vibe.
- Bundle tiers – Standard edition ($39.99, includes the Dhampir race), Collector’s edition ($79.99, extra storage and cosmetics), and Ultimate Fan Bundle ($129.99, adds account-wide tomes, teleport trinket, and further cosmetics).
For players who enjoy the tabletop game’s Domains of Dread, Lamordia offers a familiar yet rarely explored corner of Ravenloft. DDO continues to leverage its D&D license by adapting classic sourcebooks rather than inventing entirely new settings, a strategy that has helped the game stay relevant almost two decades after launch.
