At long last, the saga of 38 Studios may very well be coming to a close and we may be able to go back to forgetting that they were ever going to make an MMORPG without fear that we may be missing something. According to the Boston Globe, Curt Schilling, Jennifer MacLean, Richard Wester, Thomas Zaccagnino, and "insurer Starr Indemnity and Liability Co." will each be settling their part of the lawsuit that the state of Rhode Island brought against them in November 2012. While Rhode Island "has obtained settlements totaling approximately $45 million" from various 38 Studios-related lawsuits, this particular settlement was announced to be to the tune of $2.5 million.

The news follows news from earlier this summer that "Rhode Island authorities concluded [...] that while state officials made a bad deal, there was no crime committed." Schilling had gone on record at the time calling the investigation a "fake ass witch hunt."

For those that don't remember, in 2010, 38 Studios was given $75 million by the state of Rhode Island in an effort to move the company there to create jobs. In May 2012, after releasing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the company "defaulted on its $1.1 million interest payment" and declared bankruptcy the next month. Its major MMORPG project, Project Copernicus, was canceled in the process.
