CSE's Mark Jacobs Says That They Intend To Deliver On Their Camelot Unchained 90-Day Plan
As we all know, the current COVID-19 situation has now affected every community and industry on the planet, including the gaming industry. As developers are forced to work from home for everyone’s safety, we’ve seen delays in the release of updates and the development of upcoming games. City State Entertainment’s Mark Jacobs, however, says that they're still on track to deliver on their promised 90-day plan for Camelot Unchained in his latest letter to the community.
“As the month draws to an end, we find ourselves still living in CoronaWorld, and it’s been a tough time for so many of its inhabitants. For us, it also means that we are getting close to the end of the 90-day plan we laid out for Camelot Unchained. Fortunately, our team is well and we all have been working hard to deliver on that plan.”
He also assures backers and fans that Camelot Unchained remains their top priority following the announcement of their new coop PvE game, Final Stand: Ragnarok, earlier this year. “Almost three months ago we showed you Final Stand: Ragnarok and understandably some folks were upset and concerned about CU’s future,” says Jacobs. “I tried to assure folks that CU was not only alive and well but would still be the main focus of CSE. Many of you didn’t believe me, even when I laid out the 90-day plan. And here we are, almost 90 days after the plan was revealed and we’re doing a really good job overall on delivering on it, even with the delays and issues due to Covid-19.”
Jacobs adds that they plan to lay down another detailed 90-day roadmap at the end of 90 days. “I’m happy to say that we intend to do the same thing over the next 90 days, lay out a detailed plan which puts CU at the forefront of our development with the vast majority of the studios resources going to continue, expand, and iterate on the fine work they did over the last 90 days.”
Meanwhile, Game Designer Benjamin Pielstick talks about how battlegrounds will work in the monthly newsletter for April. “The biggest new feature we’ve been working on recently for Camelot Unchained is what we’re calling a Battleground,” writes Pieltstick. “This term has been used in MMORPGs for quite some time, and most generally means a space that is a microcosm or mini-game separate from the main game, with a fully self-contained game loop players can participate in and enjoy.”
“Obviously the final game isn’t meant to be a time-limited instance-based experience,” he adds, “but rather a persistent open world, where players can battle over control of territory and resources, building and laying siege to fortifications of their own design. There are no time limits, no victory conditions, just an ongoing war between the Realms on a massive scale. This is what makes our new Battleground different from past Scenarios.”
