Cryptic Studios Will Be Disabling Cross-Game Chat In All Their Games On March 9

The Foundry, a storehouse and creation tool for player-made content, and cross-game chat are highly-invaluable features unique to Cryptic Studios’ and Perfect World Entertainment’s MMORPGs. Unfortunately, Cryptic was forced to disable the Foundry in April last year due to lack of developers who had knowledge of maintaining it. Sadly, cross-game chat will soon be joining the Foundry in the features graveyard.
“On Monday, March 9 2020, we will stop supporting Global Chat across Cryptic games. This decision was not made lightly but was necessitated by the resources required to sustain this feature and the standard of quality we strive for across our games.”
The affected games are: Star Trek Online, Neverwinter, and Champions Online. Cross-game chat includes cross-game private messages, cross-game private user-owned channels, and cross-game friend and ignore lists. Cross-game channels, however, will still remain for all games but will only show messages originating from the game you’re currently on.
