Conan Exiles Dives Into Age Of Sorcery In A New Two-Part Dev Video Series

When Conan Exiles’ big Age of Sorcery expansion launched back in September, it significantly changed how the multiplayer survival game was played thanks to the addition of magic and sorcery. Now that we’re a few months into the expansion’s release, Funcom offers a glimpse into the work that went into the update in its new two-part Deep Dive series.
In Part 1 of the Sorcery deep dive, Lead Designer Dennis Douthett and Senior Technical Designer Chris Meredith offers a behind-the-scenes look at the new sorcery system and offers insight into why they decided to add sorcery to the otherwise magic-less world of Conan Exiles.
According to Douthett, they had always planned to add sorcery at some point since it was promised a long time ago when they first showed off the game. It also tied in with Conan canon lore which revolved around a barbarian and his quest to defeat a powerful sorcerer and you can’t have sorcerers without a sorcery system.
The duo also offered viewers a brief look into the design and development process as well as the inspiration for some of the newly added spells. All in all, it’s a pretty informative video for both players and armchair developers alike. If you’re interested, you can watch out the full dev blog right down below.
