CODEX, An Indie Season-Based MMORPG, Launches Into Early Access
CODEX, an indie MMORPG running on Legend of Aria’s Shard Engine, has now launched into Early Access after a 24-hour delay. The game features season-based gameplay divided into early-game, mid-game, late-game, and end-game. Upon reaching the end of the season, the game will be reset and all progress will be lost.
“CODEX delivers a series of epic massively multiplayer adventures, each taking place over a limited time. Level multiple classes, inhabit hand-crafted lands featuring hundreds of quest hooks, craft and trade in a highly socialised economy of sole crafters and living merchants, decorate your in-world home and experience a truly diverse ruleset.
Whilst adventures in CODEX may be finite, each is an opportunity to grow your avatar, earning adventure specific rewards and cosmetics which will be your legacy. Adventures in CODEX are long enough to reach your goals but short enough that you are never too far from the next.”
Early Access will allow players to test out the game’s Alpha build via a Prologue that includes the first 15 levels of basic gameplay across three leveling zones with access to most of the corresponding abilities and gear. Key features that will not be included in the Prologue are the Seasonal Reward system, player housing, and the seasonal over-arching storyline, all of which will be available in Season 1.
“Prologue is a chance to showcase our early development and to put our core mechanics through bug testing, balance and polish,” said developer Corp Por. “It’s deeply important to us that this content is the best that it can be and we have reached a stage where we’re ready to share this content with you. It goes without saying that Prologue progress will not persist into our first season.”
