Camelot Unchained Beta 2 Backers Got To Try Out The Upcoming Minstrel Class Last Sunday
Musical support classes have been in the forefront of Camelot Unchained developer updates since last week. The Dark Fool, Minstrel and Skald once again takes center stage in this week’s weekly dev report.
The highlight of this week’s report is the closed beta test held over the weekend. Alpha, Beta 1, and Beta 2 backers were able to take the Minstrel for a test run during Sunday’s playtest. During the test, players were able to make new Minstrel characters, play around with the upcoming support class' musical abilities, and try out its effects on enemies and allies alike.
Meanwhile, work on the Minstrel and the other support classes continues with particular emphasis on the new Panic Stat. “Panic [. . .] is a stat that functions a lot like Stamina,” explains the devs. “Stamina locks at 0 for a bit when you’re exhausted, and Panic will lock at your MaxPanic stat for a bit when it reaches that threshold. Several support components exploit enemies with a maxed-out panic resource, locking up movement or preventing certain kinds of abilities from being used.” Siege abilities have also been added to support classes along with Banes and Boons for the Dark Fool and the Minstrel.
Aside from work on the support classes, City State is also hard at work fixing a performance issue when dealing with a large number of NPCs. The new Viking Skald Harmonic Axe and Harpolyre weapons are also nearing completion along with the studio’s “Linuxification” efforts. A new installer has also been released which will require all backers to download the latest Microsoft VC redist version.
