Elder Scrolls Online will focus more on the social aspect of the game when the next update goes live according to ESO game director, Matt Firor, during a Twitch interview about plans for ESO for 2016. According to Firor, major changes were made to “remove barriers so people can play with each other much easier with fewer restrictions.” Some zone and level limits will be removed to allow players of varying levels, friends, and the whole community in general to play with each other and run dungeons even if they belong to different alliances. The developers also plan to implement a text chat feature in line with the game’s new focus on socialization.

Apart from revamping the social aspects of ESO, Firor also talked about other upcoming changes and future plans for the game, including the removal of Vet ranks which will roll out with the Dark Brotherhood update, the “Barbershop” which will allow players to re-customize their characters and even change their race, and crafting bags with unlimited slots, a much-needed feature for players who just love crafting. The barbershop and crafting bags are still works in progress but are expected to come out soon. Crafting bags, however, will only be available to ESO+ subscribers while the barbershop will be available to everyone but will take longer to implement due to its complexity.

Brian Wheeler, the lead PvP designer for ESO also discussed alliance wars and general PvP plans during the interview. He talked about instanced and small-scale PvP, capture mechanics and reward systems, as well as other upgrades and request changes.
