Blizzard Makes '/Who' A Protected Function In World Of Warcraft Classic

world of warcraft goblin scroll bannerBlizzard Entertainment has just rolled out a hotfix that makes the /who command a protected function in World of Warcraft Classic. This means that the function needs to be manually entered for it to work. Consequently, addons that rely on the /who function, such as Census Addons, won’t work as intended.

Blizzard has yet to give an explanation for the changes, but two theories have come up on Wowhead. The first is to hide player counts, faction balances, and disable mass guild invite addons. The second is that the fix prevents players from using /who to identify their current layer, effectively putting a stop to layer-hopping exploits. But, until we actually hear from the studio, all of this is just speculation.
