Blade And Soul Is Making Changes To Weapon Upgrades

An upcoming update to Blade and Soul will be making some changes to weapon upgrades. The Siren and Pirate weapon paths are going to be retired. This is partly because of an upcoming event that will allow players to reduce their overall upgrade costs by between 10% and 40%. It is also partly because the Korean version of Blade and Soul retired these weapon paths at the release of the Silverfrost Mountains expansion. These paths require players to farm dungeons of a lower level to get the materials they need. While these paths are "considered to generally be cheaper routes to take," the team has opted to remove them in time for the event so that everyone can upgrade their gear quickly.

Starting May 11th, gem sockets that players have opened using Gem Hammers will not reset when moving to "the Silverfrost Mountains weapon progression path." This change is being made exclusively for the Western version of Blade and Soul.

The amount of gem hammers required to unlock each gem socket has been altered. The table below shows the new costs.

Additionally, when the changes are made to Gem Hammers on May 11th, players affected by the loss of gem sockets will be given four Gem Hammers.
