Studio Wildcard has finally rolled out the Ragnarok map on the Nintendo Switch version of ARK: Survival Evolved five years after it first came out on PC. The player-made map first made its debut as an official map for the PC version in 2017 but never made it to the Nintendo port presumably due to the issues with the portable console version.

The dino-taming multiplayer survival game launched on the Nintendo Switch back in 2018 and was heavily criticized due to extremely long loading times, stuttering, and other performance issues. Studio Wildcard later rebuilt the game specifically for the portable console and relaunched it as the Ultimate Survivor Edition upgrade in November 2022, which brings us to the launch of the first switch DLC featuring the long-awaited map.

“Journey through an expansive 144 square kilometer environment where elements from various biomes combine to form a completely new ARK survival experience,” announced the team. “From mountain peaks and active volcanoes to winding caverns and secluded forest regions, ARK players will find plenty of exciting new locations to build their perfect homebase. Ragnarok also introduces a host of new unique creatures to fight and tame include Dire Polar Bears, Ice Wyverns, and mystical Griffons. Ragnarok is the first of six free DLC updates slated for the Switch version of ARK.”

You can catch a glimpse of the new (ish) map in the new trailer below.
