Albion Online Details Hellgate Changes Coming In Today’s Call To Arms Update

albion online hellgate demon realm bannerThe PvP-centric Call to Arms update arrives in Albion Online later today bringing with it major changes to Hellgates. Developer Sandbox Interactive gives players a brief rundown of the changes in a new dev blog and video.

In its current iteration, players have to kill certain static demons at preset locations to gain access to a Hellgate and enter the demon realm. With the release of the Call to Arms update, players will no longer be required to kill Guardian mobs but will instead need to craft, loot, or buy Hellgate Maps which will spawn a portal to the demon realm.

Players will also see a greater variety of mobs and map layouts along with the new rising lava mechanic which will force players to fight each other as the map slowly shrinks around them. A new 10vs10 Hellgate mode has also been added as well as a matchmaking system to ensure that players are matched up against other players of the same skill level.

“Matchmaking is based on the average Hellgate Infamy of your party (see below). You have a chance of joining another party's Hellgate instantly; if no suitable opponent is found, you will enter your own Hellgate. The matchmaking criteria grow wider with time, until eventually another team enters your Hellgate or you enter theirs.”

“This overhaul of Hellgates aims to address gameplay concerns brought to us by longtime players, as well as open one of Albion’s most exciting PvP features to more players,” said Sandbox Interactive.

The video below offers a preview of the changes coming to Hellgates. You can also head over to the Albion Online official site for more info.
