Activision-Blizzard Is Planning To Shut Down Its Versailles Studio

activision blizzard logo 2015Following Activision Blizzard's mass layoffs last year, the company is now shutting down its office in Versailles, France. According to Bloomberg, the French studio employed around 400 people before the layoffs whose jobs included customer support, marketing, and game localization for the European market.

“Over the past year we have been exploring how we might best integrate our capabilities across the business, enabling us to better leverage talent, expertise and scale as we adapt to the needs of a fast-paced, highly-competitive, digitally focused industry,” said an Activision Blizzard spokesperson to GamesIndustry.biz. “In the context of our Versailles office, the management of Blizzard France has informed its employee representatives of a proposed project to reorganize its activities. Supporting our employees through this process is our number one priority.”

There was reportedly an earlier plan to relocate the affected employees to London that was changed for undisclosed reasons, presumably because of COVID-19 and Brexit.
