Abyss of Dungeons Adds Bard Class and Summer Event in August Patch

Abyss of Dungeons, Krafton’s mobile extraction RPG from TERA developer Bluehole Studio, rolled out its August update in North America and several other regions today. The patch opens a new season titled “A Chilling Harmony” and introduces the game’s first dedicated support role: the Bard.

The Bard leans on music-based buffs rather than raw damage, giving party-focused players a clear way to keep teammates alive during the game’s high-stakes dungeon runs. The update also brings a hands-off “Dispatch Team” system for passive loot generation and a limited-time summer event loaded with cosmetics and experience boosts.

What’s in the August Update

  • New class: Bard – Players who reach account level 6 can unlock the Bard and choose between flute, drum, or lyre skill sets. Each instrument offers its own active abilities and party buffs, filling a gap in the game’s class roster.
  • Dispatch Team missions – Assemble AI-controlled mercenaries and send them into dungeons. Results depend on party composition and region difficulty, with bonus rewards possible on successful runs.
  • Additional weapons and gear – Items such as the Blunderbuss, Great Shield, and themed weapons like the Pale Breath flute expand the loot pool.
  • Summer event (Aug. 9–Sept. 2) – Time-limited swimsuit outfits, a temporary EXP boost, and an event codex packed with challenge objectives give players extra reasons to log in during the season’s tail end.

Abyss of Dungeons launched in the United States and Canada earlier this year before widening to markets across Asia and Latin America. With its blend of action RPG combat and extraction-style risk-reward, the game sits alongside titles such as Dark and Darker Mobile that are pushing the genre on handheld devices. Abyss of Dungeons used to be known as Dark and Darker Mobile, but after all the drama surrounding the copyright infringement case with Nexon, the game has been renamed to Abyss of Dungeons. The game currently has over 1 million downloads on the Google Play store. There is no PC client, so it remains mobile-only.
