A Tale In The Desert Gears Up For Its Seventh Telling

A Tale In the Desert has been in a bit of a transitioning phase these last few months as ownership and development of the game transfer from eGenesis, and Andrew "Teppy" Tepper, the previous president and lead developer, to Pluribus Games. News hadn't exactly been regular before then but, prior to last week, it had been pretty quiet as a result of the transition.

Fortunately, the new development team seems to have hit the ground running as they gear up for the seventh telling of A Tale In the Desert. With this new telling, the game is less focused on levels and is making a transition back to being a purely skill-based game. In addition to that, players will receive tokens at the end of each month that may allow them to bribe those proctoring the tests in order to bypass them, given that players must restart during each telling. The game is also returning as many tests as they can to the game, meaning that players will no longer be limited to seven tests per discipline.

With this telling, the monthly fee is dropping to $11.95, with discounts for ordering more months in advance. However, if you're still not sure about it, the current telling will be free until it shuts down at noon Central on September 8th, and the beta for Tale VII—which began on Friday and runs until September 11th—is also free, albeit your progress will not transfer to the live servers.

Many other changes have been made that can be viewed in the full announcement. Hopefully this is the beginning of a turn-around for one of only a few combat-free MMOs out there.
