56% Of Black Desert Online Sales Come from North America / Europe

In an investor presentation released in November Black Desert Online's developer, Pearl Abyss, revealed some interesting statistics about the game. The one that caught my eye most was that in Q3, 2017 Black Desert generated 57% of its sales from the "Americas / Europe" region, whereas South Korea only accounted for 18% of sales; the remaining 26% came from other parts of Asia.

It's pretty rare for free to play Korean MMORPGs to do so much better in Western markets. Games like MapleStory and Dungeon Fighter Online for example earn multiples more in South Korea than they do in North America and Europe.

Another interesting tidbit from the company's investor presentation was the game's revenue growth, which clocked in at a whopping 117.6% year over year. It did fall 16.6% quarter over quarter though to 27,562 million KRW (which is ~$25.6M USD) for Q3, 2017.
