MMOs With Fashionista Cosmetics

tera-header

All MMOs are built around a story and combat system but after that initial attraction they need more to keep players interested and happy. One of the ways that games produce happy players is by providing a cosmetic system that appeals to every player's fashionista side. Here are a few games that have their apparel on point!

Maplestory

Maplestory is a game that for some is played for the sheer ability to dress up and create an adorable chibi in classic 2D form. With hundreds of cosmetic options it's unlikely that you'll have trouble finding something that you really like. It definitely becomes a large part of your game experience as you get in touch with your inner shopping diva. Become an animal, a rocker or the most beautiful goddess around—it's only limited to your imagination (Or maybe your wallet)!

Rift

Rift has taken a different approach to cosmetic wardrobes that has made it easier than ever for players to customize their characters. The game has added a handy wardrobe tab that basically meets all a gamer’s needs in regards to customization. Rift allows players to collect appearances without having the bulk of hoarding specific items or templates, coupled with an easy to use transmog system and dyeing method, Rift has taken customization and made it extremely user friendly. For those that are unfamiliar with a transmog system, it is an in-game remodeler that allows players to use previously obtained gear or templates to change the appearance of their current outfit to the look of the desired piece.

Similar games that use a transmog system are WoW and Diablo 3.

Tera Online

Tera Online attracted many people through its combat system but created lasting appeal through its unique costume and accessory designs. Dress up as a watermelon Baraka, a cheerleader Castanic, or maybe you want to be the explicit nighttime Amani—butler speedo style! Tera has focused heavily on producing costumes for Elin, which is the most popular race in game, so some races don’t get as much love such as the Amani or Baraka. But almost every cosmetic is universal with just a handful being gender specific. This allows you to come up with the wackiest combinations you can think of!

Dragon Nest

Dragon Nest cosmetics can be relatively pricey but the cosmetics do feature additional stats, a nice bonus to a game that relies heavily on stat distribution. On top of the bonus stats it’s hard to deny the fact that Dragon Nest has created outfits that have amazing aesthetic appeal. They cater to small details in both the costume design and weapon skins, and each class is provided with a decent variety in options. Some of their notable outfits include the Halloween designs which took various patterns and designs to transform players into fashionable witches, pumpkin warlords and so much more!

What game has your favorite cosmetic apparel?

I've been playing MMOs since the initial release of Flyff back in 2005. From then I've tried MMOs of all kinds and always get hooked to wonderful freedom that they can provide as new lands are uncovered. I still like to explore all the different games but right now I'm focused on Blade&Soul(TW) and Tera Online.
