As Astellia Online continues its second Closed Beta test, Barunson gears up to release an all-important feature which will be part of CBT2 testing – the cash shop. According to a recent dev blog, a portion of the second closed beta test will involve testing the Cash Shop and Loyalty Systems or at least an “initial version” of these systems. “We plan to continue expanding and adjusting this system as we explore new ideas, and receive player insights,” says Barunson.
“In order to allow players to fully dive into the shop, we’ve added two items to the CBT-2 shop that will allow players to purchase set amounts of Gems & Zender (Loyalty) currency. Each account will be able to claim the Gem Pack a total of ‘1’ time, and the Zender Pack ‘6’ times. Gems are account bound, and Zender is bound to an individual character. What this means is if you claim ‘2’ Zender Packs on one character, only ‘4’ total Zender Pack claims will remain on your account to be used on other characters. Please consider your purchases carefully, once depleted we will not be able to provide you with any additional currency for the duration of CBT-2.”
Gems are currently valued at $10 for 100 gems. Premium subscription costs 150 gems for 30 days, Appearance Change Coupons are 100 gems apiece, while costume sets range from 120 – 180 gems. Zender, on the other hand, can be earned as part of the daily login rewards and can also be used to buy useful consumables from the Zender Shop including Resurrection Scrolls, Unbinding Tokens (Beeswax), and Dungeon Tickets. The Zender Shop also contains an assortment of costumes that can be bought with Zender ranging from 1500 – 2400 points per set.
With the Forgotten Treasures update now live and out of the way, the Ultima Online devs are now hard at work on the Forsaken Foes update slated for release this Fall. In her latest Producer’s Letter, Bonnie “Mesanna” Armstrong writes that the team is now prepping to release the update on the test server soon.
“We are currently preparing for our first TC1 release of our next publish, Forsaken Foes, which brings new equipment, some quality of life updates, and a continuation of our ongoing story arc!”
She goes on to warn the community against rude behavior, especially when posting in the forums. “[The forums] is supposed to be a place that everyone feels comfortable to post comments, bugs, and questions, not a place to be made to feel inferior by others,” writes Bonnie. “Rude behavior will not be permitted.”
Violators will be sent warnings followed by a 30-day forum ban if the behavior persists. Persistent toxic behavior after the 30-day ban will result in a permanent ban from the forums. During the month of May alone, the devs have banned and suspended more than 60 accounts for disruptive behavior, harassment, macroing, and abuse of game mechanics among others.
Oh, and there's a Pumpkin Pirate Ship teased for Forsaken Foes somewhere in there too.
Pokemon-inspired Kickstarter sensation Temtem has just received a big “in-between” update that introduces a number of new features and improvements to the game’s Alpha version. On top of the list is the introduction of Breeding.
“Breeding is the process used to create new Temtem from Eggs. If two Temtem are compatible, putting them together in the Breeding Center will create a new Egg. Eggs will eventually hatch into a new Temtem and they will be able to inherit some characteristics from their parents.”
A quest tracker has also been added to help tamers keep track of their main quests and sidequests along with emotes and the “FreeTem! Initiative” which allows players to earn various rewards for catching and releasing Temtem. “The FreeTem! Initiative is our first approach to having methods of earning infinite Pansuns and to keep all players entertained after the campaign is over,” says Crema Games. “They promote the idea that all Temtem should be free and back in nature, so they will reward players for every Temtem released.” Players will also be given a special reward each week when they free a certain number of Temtem. The rewards will change every week to encourage players to constantly catch and free Temtem.
The update also comes with a long list of under the hood changes such as new Luma species, new technique animations, new music, and a revamped UI. There’s also quality of life improvements, balance changes, and bug fixes that rolled out with the update. Check out the full patch notes here.

The Festival of the Four Winds is now live in Guild Wars 2 with the release of the latest patch. Tyria’s annual summer event brings with it a whole host of activities such as PvP and PvE battles in the Crown Pavilion, the return of the Bazaar of the Four Winds, kites, hot air balloons, aerial races, and more.
“Queen Jennah herself presides over the festivities in Divinity’s Reach, where ambitious contenders do battle in the Crown Pavilion for prestige and rewards. Join the Boss Blitz melee to take down vicious villains, and compete in one-on-one matchups with notorious challengers in the Queen’s Gauntlet.
Traders, crafters, and other compelling and mysterious individuals have gathered for the Bazaar of the Four Winds. Relax on the beach, hunt for sky crystals, barter for goods, or just do a little quiet people-watching. Be sure to take your griffon for a spin around the cliffs—and offer the Zephyrites a warm welcome back.”
The cash shop has also been updated with seasonal items including an exclusive raptor skin and paraglider. Check out the video below for an overview of the festival activities.
Also live in Guild Wars 2 today is the Legendary Upgrades global community event. “[. . .] Citizens will be called on to trade in their piles of lucent crystals to crafting discipline grandmasters in exchange for Satchels of Loot, with the goal of forcing the knowledge out of the Mystic Forge. Every donation progresses a global community goal. Once the goal is complete, the ability to create new materials for legendary upgrades will become available to every discipline that can craft upgrades.”
Earlier this month, Bandai Namco announced that they were working on a new anime-themed MMORPG called Blue Protocol. Interest over the new game steadily grew over the past few weeks with the release of a character creation video and a colorful trailer showing off the game’s vibrant cel-shaded environments and characters.
Unfortunately, according to one of the Blue Protocol subreddit admins, we probably won’t be seeing a western port of the game anytime soon. “I've just received word from Bandai Namco that they have no plans for a western release at the moment. However, they also said that ‘this is subject to change’, so there is still a chance that Blue Protocol will hit the western market in the future.”
Hopefully, they do change their mind sooner rather than later. Got my fingers crossed for this one. In the meantime, you might want to check out the character creation video and the game’s official trailer below.
Square Enix has just rolled out a new Final Fantasy XIV patch that drops a host of new Shadowbringers content into the game. Patch 5.05 adds a Savage Difficulty to the Eden’s Gate high-level raid and introduces the new Allagan Tomestones of Phantasmagoria along with the new Treasure Hunt Dungeon “Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah”.

The patch also brings with it new crafting recipes, balance adjustments to Battle Actions, new Housing Furnishings, along with a number of new items, minions, mounts, and more. You’ll find the full patch notes here.
