If you've been sitting on your Durango limited Beta key you now have until January 15th to try your luck surviving dinosaurs on the go. If you don't know, Durango is a Nexon mobile title, and it's pretty interesting at a glance, mainly for trying to make survival work on your phone.
I gave it for a few minutes and it's impressive enough. There's even an intro narrative, something most survival games lack.
And if you haven't gotten a Beta key don't fret. Durango should be releasing sometime in early 2017, according to our best estimates. I speculate Nexon will make an announcement regarding the release schedule once the limited Beta ends.
R2Games announced that Heroes Evolved would be headed to mobile devices in 2017 late last week, just three months after the game's initial PC launch. At the time, it was also announced that the soft launch process would begin at the end of this month. With mere hours left to go until 2017, the soft launch process has begun with the release of the Android version in Europe. An iOS version will follow in the near future, but R2Games decided that it wanted an Android-first launch, as many other publishers launch on iOS first.
The mobile clients are said to have been "fully rebuilt" with mobile in mind. The game has been "streamlined for touch controls and on-the-go gaming." R2Games did not mention whether the mobile versions support cross-platform play with the PC version, but the way that they are discussed gives me the distinct impression that they are not.
Those that are interested in playing everyone's favorite credit card swiping MOBA on their Android device of choice can download the game now via Google Play—granted that they have access to a European Google Play account.
There's no better way to conclude 2016 then by watching the MMOs.com team grind their way through Soul Worker, a cell-shaded beat-up-all-the-enemies MMO currently only available in Japan. We all flew to Okinawa to bring you this stream.
A pre-registration page went up for Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed, Nexon Korea's mobile adaptation of Dynasty Warriors, yesterday, bringing with it news that a Limited Beta would begin soon. Those interested can now head over to the page, register for the test using their email, and wait until they are sent a link to download the game.
The page also gives us a fairly extensive look at gameplay through the release of a teaser trailer, as well as individual preview trailers for the Kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu. You can find each trailer embedded below.
Qoo App is reporting that the Limited Beta will run from January 12th to January 16th and will be open to users in Korea, the United States, Germany, and Taiwan. I can't find anywhere that explicitly states those dates, but the Facebook page states that pre-registration will end on January 11th and the Nexon Calendar lists the Limited Beta as running from December 29th to January 16th, which clearly includes pre-registration, so it stands to reason that these dates are accurate.
Shadowverse's long-awaited Rise of Bahamut expansion is here, bringing with it a full set of 105 new cards. Each Class has a new Legendary card and three new Gold cards, as well as an assortment of less rare cards. Bahamut itself and Sahaquiel have been introduced as neutral Legendaries. The expansion also brings with it "the new Enhance ability."
To help players kickstart their Rise of Bahamut collections, Cygames is giving away 10 Rise of Bahamut Card Pack Tickets to all players that make it through the tutorial and play the game by March 29, 2017.
The update that introduced the Rise of Bahamut expansion also introduced prebuilt 30-card decks that each have a special Legendary that cannot be created or liquefied. These decks cost 750 Crystals, can be purchased three times, and have a "six-digit deck code" that can be used as a starting point for a full 40-card deck.
A replay system was also introduced, allowing players to watch their last ten matches over again.
While details are few and its genre is not yet confirmed, it seems that Perfect World Entertainment will be publishing an upcoming Jurassic World game made by Universal City Studios. MMOCulture broke the news earlier today, having found Universal City Studios' trademark filing for the game, which is known as "Jurassic World Survivor." While Perfect World Entertainment is not mentioned by name in the trademark filing, it did register the domain www.jurassicworldsurvivor.com.
As the game has yet to be formally announced, we have no details about the title other than the fact that it is a game. We will be sure to keep you informed the moment that more information becomes available.
Soul Worker Grindfest Friday with the MMOs.com Crew
Soul Worker is a free to play anime inspired action MMORPG that plays a lot like other instanced hack n slash MMORPGs (think Kritika Online, Dungeon Fighter Online, and Vindictus). The video above was recorded on the Japanese servers which require a VPN to access. There's an English patch available for the game here. The EU/NA version of the game will be published by Gameforge sometime in the future. Probably the most memorable aspect of Soul Workers for me (Omer) was its gorgeous anime inspired graphics. The cel shading looks great and some of the in-game emotes are real cute too. The content felt a bit repetitive, but anyone familiar with these kinds of games (DFO/Vindictus) should be used to running the same kinds of levels multiple time.
Snail Games announced today that the Dark and Light PC survival game is not the only Dark and Light game that it is currently working on. A Dark and Light mobile MMORPG, tentatively known as "Dark and Light Mobile," is also in development.
The mobile MMORPG seems to be somewhat of a faithful adaptation of the PC survival game, but with a key few differences. Players will be able to choose one of two factions: Dark or Light. There will be four races and eight classes to choose from. It is being billed as a sandbox MMORPG featuring action combat, animal husbandry, flying mounts, 40-person raid bosses, guild sieges, a dynamic world event system, and a 14.95 million square meter world—or 14,950 square kilometers or 122 km x 122 km. It seems like quite the advanced mobile MMORPG.
Whereas the PC game is built in Unreal Engine 4, Dark and Light Mobile is using the third-generation version of Snail Games' in-house FLexi Engine. The engine allows Snail to add lighting effects such as reflection, refraction, and dynamic light sources, as well as use the Unity Ragdoll system.
You can find more information about the Dark and Light Mobile on the official website. It is expected to launch in China in 2017, with the first test starting soon. An English release has yet to be announced.
